2018 marks the 50th Anniversary of Blandford Nature Center, what better way to commemorate the occasion than with our 1st annual First Free Fridays series! On the first Friday during each month in the Summer (June 1st, July 6th and August 3rd), we invite families and individuals to come out and explore all the opportunities Blandford has to offer with free general admission to the Mary Jane Dockeray Visitor Center located at 1715 Hillburn Ave NW, Grand Rapids MI 49504 during normal business hours from 9 am to 5 pm The trails are open from dawn to dusk.
In addition to free admission for the entire day, visitors will have the opportunity to explore our eight different trails and visit the wildlife ambassadors in the Wildlife Education Center including Katherine the Great-Horned Owl, Grayson the Rabbit and our newest resident Amelia the Southern Flying Squirrel. Guests can also take a trip over to the Blandford Farm, just a short walk west of the Visitor Center where the farm animals will be out to see and pet such as the goats, baby chickens, pigs and sheep.
“Whether folks haven’t visited in a long time or this will be your first time at Blandford Nature Center, we’re excited to offer this opportunity to the community to explore nature and wildlife for free throughout the Summer,” said Renee Baker, Community Programs Manager.
The event is open to the public with free admission for all ages. Tickets and pre-registration are not required for entry. For more information, go to http://blandfordnaturecenter.org/event/free-first-friday/.
