GR American Legion to host Agent Orange presentation on Oct. 27

A presentation titled “Agent Orange — Exposure to Toxins” will be hosts Saturday, Oct. 27, from 9 a.m. to noon, at The American Legion Boat and Canoe Club, located at 401 North Park NE, Grand Rapids.

 

The presentation, by Phil Smith, will detail the effects of Agent Orange and other toxic chemicals on health, veterans’ eligibility for benefits, and “generational impact on exposure.”

 

Smith is a retired U.S. Marine with 27 years of active military service. He is an in-country Vietnam veteran who worked for three years for the Marine Corps League as a State Service Officer. For the last 18 years, he has been the Vietnam Veterans of America Chief Veteran’s Service Officer based in Detroit.

 

Sponsors of the program are the Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 18 and the Rockford VFW Post 3946.
