Beginning Aug. 18, Heartside Gleaning Initiative (HGI) will deliver fresh produce to residents of Dwelling Place apartments who have mobility or transportation limitations. With this delivery service, HGI will be able to reach and positively impact more members of the community by increasing access to healthy food.
HGI serves the residents of Grand Rapids’ Heartside neighborhood and surrounding communities, including the Southeast, Roosevelt Park and Westside neighborhoods. Anyone can receive the produce, but the organization aims to provide produce to individuals and families most in need of fresh healthy food. HGI partners with food pantries in these neighborhoods as well as God’s Kitchen to increase its reach beyond providing food directly to individuals.
