Tulip Time Festival  is pleased to announce that Tulip Time, together with the City of Holland Parks Department, will host a Community Tulip Planting Day on Saturday, Oct. 13, 2018 at Window on the Waterfront Park, located on 6th Street between Columbia and College Avenues, from 8am-12pm. Rain date will be Oct. 20, 2018, same time and place. Volunteers are needed for two shifts 8-10am and 10am-12pm.

Each fall the City of Holland plants tulip bulbs throughout downtown Holland, city parks, and Tulip Lanes. The Community Planting Day Volunteers will help plant over 75,000 tulip bulbs at Window on the Waterfront Park. Community volunteers have assisted the Parks Department in planting bulbs for several years.

“This is a great way to get involved with the Festival,” commented Gwen Auwerda, Executive Director of Tulip Time. “And, in the spring, you’ll have bragging rights and can show off the tulips you planted to your friends and family!”

Official Bloom of Tulip Time 2019 is Tulip Time’s 90th Anniversary celebration. Since orange is the color of the Dutch Royal Family which hails from the House of Orange, we are asking everyone to Join the Dance as we paint the town orange! A brilliant orange tulip variety has been selected as the Official Bloom of Tulip Time for 2019. These bulbs will be available for sale at Community Planting Day. Take some home to plant and paint your own garden orange.

Children’s Tulip Gardens This year, Community Planting Day features four beds just for kids! Over 1,000 multi-colored bulbs will be provided for kids to plant in the children’s tulip gardens while supplies last. Kids can then sign their name on a banner that will be prominently displayed at these beds during Tulip Time. Children need not register to participate and can drop in any time 8am-12pm.

Corporate Planting Day On Friday, Oct. 19, Tulip Time will host Corporate Planting Day. Grab your gardening gloves and bring your team out to plant tulips! This is a great team building and volunteer opportunity for teams of any size. Teams are needed for two shifts 10a-12p and 1-3p at Centennial Park. To participate, please register here.

Refreshments will be provided by Bowerman’s Blueberries and Biggby Coffee. Dress for the weather, bring your green thumbs and gardening gloves. The City of Holland Parks Department will supply the bulbs, necessary tools for planting and plenty of instruction.
