The Holland Area Arts Council’s MI Arts Regional Arts Competition invited regional artists to submit contemporary works of art. With the assistance of this year’s juror, Michael Burmieister the resulting curated work is exhibited in the Arts Council’s Padnos and Armstrong Galleries.  An exhibit reception is scheduled for Friday, Sept. 13 from 6-8pm and the public is invited. Burmeister will speak at 7pm and present awards.

Burmeister is currently the Owner and Director of Button Gallery in Douglas, MI. Previously as Adjunct Professor and Exhibition Preparator, Burmesiter taught numerous Fine Arts courses and worked on highly acclaimed exhibitions in both Pennsylvania and Illinois. His work has been exhibited regionally and nationally at colleges, universities, galleries, and museums. Visit buttonartgallery.com for more information and to view his artwork.

The juror was tasked with narrowing down the entries to curate an exhibition of painting and drawing, ceramic sculptures, photographs, prints, fiber and other media work all in the contemporary style. Artists submitted over 120 pieces, and Burmeister selected 46 to be included in the exhibition.

The show runs through Nov. 10th. Holland Area Arts Council is located at 150 East 8th Street in Holland.
