Fashion designer Kate Spade’s tragic death in June 2018 has been a call to may to normalize the conversation surrounding mental health and suicide in an effort to remove the burden of shame.
On Thursday, Oct. 24, the Michigan State Medial Society Alliance will host the Fall Focus Mental Health Awareness symposium. The event will be from noon to 2 p.m. at the Watermark Country Club, 5500 Cascade Rd. SE.
“Every year at the state level, we put on a Fall Focus which brings awareness to some sort of health concern in our community,” said Karen Begrow, who is president of the MSMSA, a philanthropic/service organization made up of physician spouses.
This year, the organization is highlighting suicide, partnering with Kate Spade NY and the local mental health and suicide organization, i understand. Kate Spade New York Regional Director Kellie Dolzynski and i understand Founder Vonnie Woodrick will be the guest speakers.
The symposium luncheon is $30 with a reserved table of eight $200. Tickets are available through eventbrite. Reservations should be in by Oct. 15.
