West Michigan’s natural history to be explored during community field day

The 7th annual Allendale Community Field Day will offer members of the West Michigan community the chance to learn about the natural history of the region.

The free event, coordinated by Grand Valley State University faculty in collaboration with the Allendale Public School system, will take place from 9 a.m.-noon on Saturday, June 16, on the K-8 campus of Allendale Public Schools, located on Learning Lane, just off Pierce Street.

Celebrating the theme of “Things that Count,” community members will have the opportunity to enjoy a variety of activities, such as planting flowers in a butterfly garden, constructing origami animals, solving puzzles using codes, exploring patterns in nature and learning how math was done before calculators were invented. The event includes a free lunch.
