A Wyoming resident and Kelloggsville High School graduate will be ordained as a deacon for the Diocese of Grand Rapids this Saturday.
Daniel R. Orris Jr. along with Dominic T. Couturier, who is from Greenville, will participate in the Mass with Rite of Ordination to the Order of Deacons Saturday, May 18, at 10 a.m. at the Cathedral of Saint Andrew, 301 Sheldon Blvd. The public is invited to attend.
Orris, 28, is the son of Daniel and Bernadine Orris. He is a member of St. Dominic Parish in Wyoming, now merged with the Shrine of St. Francis Zavier and Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish in Grand Rapids. He attended Aquinas College, where he received a bachelor’s degree in 2014.
Orris will enter his final year of seminary at the University of Saint Mary of the Lake/Mundelein Seminary in Mundelein, Ill., this fall, and will receive his Master of Divinity in spring 2020. He completed his pastoral internship at Our Lady of Consolation Parish in Rockford, under the mentorship of Father Anthony Russo.
Couturier, 40, is the son of Thomas and Roberta Couturier and is a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish in Grand Rapids. He attended Davenport University and graduated in 2004 with a bachelor’s degree. Couturier will also attend the University of Saint Mary of the Lake/Mundelein Seminary in Mundelein, Ill., this fall, and will receive his Master of Divinity in spring 2020. He completed his patrol internship at St. Francis de Sales Parish in Norton Shores and St. Michael the Archangel Parish in Muskegon, under the mentorship of Father Charles Hall.
