Wyoming police ask for help to identify Dec. 18 robbery suspects

The Wyoming Department of Public Safety is seeking help of the public to identify the suspects of a Dec. 18 robbery at the Citgo gas station at 4405 S. Division Ave.

The station was robbed by two individuals, according to investigators. A firearm was used in the robbery. There were no injuries. The two suspects fled on foot from the scene after obtaining beer form the store. A K-9 track was attempted but the suspects were not located at that time.

One suspect is described as Hispanic male about 5-foot tall, late teens to early twenties, and wearing a blue hat and black coat. The second suspect is described as Hispanic male around 5-foot, 2 inches tall, late teens to early twenties, and wearing a black sweatshirt with a Santa on it and a black hat.

Wyoming Department of Public Safety is seeking the help of residents in identifying a Nov. 24 robbery suspect.

At approximately 10:20 a.m. on Nov. 24, officers from the Wyoming Department of Public Safety responded to a robbery at ATL Credit Unit, 841 36th St. SW. The suspect entered the credit union and demanded money from the an employee. The suspect obtained an unknown amount of cash and fled the credit union on foot, and it is unknown if a vehicle was involved. As of the time of this release the suspect is still outstanding and the incident remains under investigation. No weapon was seen or implied.

The suspect is described as a black mail in his early 40s, approximately six-foot tall and slender. He was wearing a black beanie, black hooded sweatshirt, black pants, and a blue surgical mask.

Police seeking suspects in Verizon store robbery

The Wyoming Department of Public Safety is seeking information on two suspects who robbed the Verizon Wireless store at 5811 Byron Center Ave. SW on Tuesday evening.

According to police, two males entered the store at approximately 6:25 p.m. One of the males grabbed the employee and escorted them to the back of the store. The two males then stole an undisclosed amount of cell phones and cash before fleeing the scene in a silver four-door sedan. No injuries were reported during the the incident.

The police descriptions of suspects are a black male, about 5-foot, 8 inches to 5-foot, 11-inches, unknown age, wearing a dark gray hooded sweatshirt, black jeans, black tennis shoes, black baseball hat and a blue cloth mask. The second suspect is described a black male, about 5-foot, 9 inches to 5-foot, 11 inches, wearing a dark blue zip-up hood sweatshirt with white draw strings, red sweatpants, black and white shoes, black stocking cap and a blue cloth mask with a surgical mask. Wyoming police looking for suspects in armed robbery

Wyoming Department of Public Safety is asking anyone with information about a cell phone store robbery that took place today, Jan. 4, to contact the department or Silent Observer.

On Jan. 4, around 10:50 a.m., officers from the Wyoming Department of Public Safety were dispatched to the Verizon Store in the 5800 block of Byron Center Ave. SW on a report of a robbery that just occurred.

The initial investigation indicates that four suspects entered the store after pushing an employee out of the doorway. The suspects obtained an undisclosed amount of phones and fled the store northbound on Byron Center Ave in a blue pick-up truck. No weapons were seen during the robbery and the employee was not injured.

The suspects are described as four African American males, possibly teenagers, wearing masks over their faces. The suspect vehicle is described as a cobalt blue Ford F-150 pick-up truck with no license plate and damage on the passenger side with white paint transfer from a previous accident (not related to this robbery).

Prior to the robbery, a station in the same area reported a gas drive off involving a truck matching the description of the vehicle used in the robbery.

Wyoming police seeking assistance in June purse snatching

On June 28, 2018, at approximately 9 p.m., Wyoming Police Officers were dispatched to Walgreen’s, 4425 S. Division Ave., on a report of a purse snatching. The 72-year-old female victim was unlocking her vehicle when the suspect pulled her purse off of her shoulder. The suspect then fled towards 28th St SW on a black mountain bike.

 

The suspect is described as a white male, 25-30 years old, with long hair. He was last seen wearing a white baseball style hat, gray t-shirt, blue jeans, and riding a black mountain bike.

Wyoming Public Safety Department seeks assistance in identifying robbery suspect

Wyoming Department of Public Safety is asking for help to identify this suspect who allegedly robbed the Clyde Park Foods.

On Tuesday, Nov. 7, at approximately 9:25 p.m. the Wyoming Department of Public Safety responded to the report of a robbery at Clyde Park Foods, 4227 Clyde Park Ave. SW.  The employees reported that a male subject jumped the service counter and demanded money.  The suspect is described as a black male, late 20’s, 5’9” – 5’11” with a medium build. The suspect was wearing a black mask which only revealed his eyes, black winter style hat, white gloves, a dark colored Pea Coat type jacket, and dark colored pants. The handgun that was seen is described as a black full-frame semi-automatic. An undisclosed amount of money was taken in the robbery.

 

It was reported that the suspect left west bound from the building. A K-9 track was attempted with negative results. The photos that are attached are from store security cameras.  It should be noted that one photo (on the right) is from an outside surveillance camera and it washes out the color of the items described above.  What it does show is the exact style of coat that the suspect was wearing.  We are hoping that someone may recognize this coat.

Wyoming Police seeking help in locating suspect in armed robbery

 

 

 

 

 

On Thursday, Jan. 26, at around 3:15 a.m., the Wyoming Department of Public Safety responded to the report of a robbery in the 300 block of Burton Street SW, according to a police report.

 

The clerk reported that a n approximate 20-year-old black male came into the store and demanded money while pointing a handgun. The suspect was wearing all black, with a hooded sweatshirt pulled up over his head. The suspect left with an undisclosed amount of cash, according to the report.

 

Witnesses reported that the suspect left the scene in a white two-door sedan, possibly a Honda Civic and fled west bound on Burton Street.

 

Wyoming Public Safety personnel continue with the investigation and ask the public’s assistance for information that may lead to the identification of the suspect. Wyoming police respond to a Saturday morning robbery and a car crash

UPDATE: Person of interest in the Saturday 6:50 a.m. crash was lodged at the Kent County Correctional Facility for operating a vehicle while intoxicated (OWI) second. The person injured is in the hospital with serious injuries.

 

It was a busy Saturday morning for the Wyoming Department of Public Safety with a robbery and serious car crash taking place in the early morning hours.

 

At around 2 a.m. this morning, the Wyoming Department of Public Safety responded to the report of a robbery of a person in the area of 36th Street and Raven SW. Two suspects threatened the victim with a knife and took an undisclosed amount of cash and other personal belongings. K9 Azar and his handler began tracking the suspect while other officers established a perimeter. K9 Azar was able to flush the suspect out of several backyards and officers subsequently took the suspect into custody. He is lodged at the Kent County Correctional Facility.

 

The remaining suspect is still at large and is described as a tall, skinny black male, approximately 20 years of age. it is believed that the suspects and the victim may be known to each other.

At 6:50 a.m., the Wyoming Department of Public Safety was called to Chicago Drive and Wendell Avenue SW on the report of a serious crash involving two vehicles. It appears that an east bound vehicles crossed the center line and struck a west bound vehicle head on. The west bound vehicle was driven by Polita Saavedraleon, 24, from Grand Rapids. She was taken to a local hospital with serious injuries. The driver of the east bound vehicle is a 28-year-old male from Kentwood.

 

Officials stated that the name of the east bound driver will not be released as crash investigators are attempting to learn more details of the crash and whether alcohol and speed are a factor in the crash.

Third pizza delivery robbery reported in Wyoming

The Wyoming Department of Public Safety is investigating a third robbery of a pizza delivery person that took place Wednesday, Sept. 28 in the 2100 block of Michael Ave. SW.

 

The department responded to a report of the robbery at around 10:50 p.m. on Wednesday. The victim was struck in the face with an unknown object and received minor injuries. This is the third robbery of a delivery person in the last week and the suspect descriptions are very similar.

 

In the previous cases, the suspect called a pizza place and requested that a delivery be made to a specific address. When the driver arrived to deliver the pizza the residents at the address correctly advised the delivery person that they had not ordered the pizza. When the delivery person returned to their vehicle with the pizza, a male suspect was waiting and demanded that they hand over their cash. In both cases, the suspect was accompanied by another male suspect. The victims in the first two robberies did give the suspect there case and the suspect and his accomplice fled on foot.

 

The first incident took place Thursday, Sept. 22 around 9:45 p.m. in the 1900 block of Prairie Parkway. In this incident, although no wear was seen , the suspect threatened to shoot the drive. The suspect is described as a black male, 17-20 years old, 5 feet, 9 inches to 5 feet, 10 inches, thin build, wearing long red shorts and a white tank top. He was observed wearing white gloves with an unknown pattern similar to glovers that would be worn while playing soccer. In this incident, a second suspect appeared from behind another vehicle. He is described only as a black male. Both suspects fled on foot after obtaining the cash.

 

The second incident occurred on Saturday, Sept. 26, around 11:26 pm. near Burton and Godfrey. The reliever driver was approached by the suspect when he returned to his car. The suspect demanded his money. The suspect is described as a black male, 18-25 years old, 5 feet, 8 inches, 150 pounds, wearing a dark-colored sweatshirt and blue jeans. The suspect was believed to be wearing some type of gloves. During this incident, a second suspect approached and stood near the driver during the incident. He is described as a white make, 18-25 years old, 5 feet 8 inches, 160 pounds, wearing a light-colored t-shirt and blue jeans. After obtaining money from the victim, both suspect fled on foot.

 

Department again encourages delivery drivers that find that the person who they are delivering food to stating that they did not order the food, to then wait at the front door of the residence and call police to check everything out. We also ask that members of the public to be vigilant in watching their neighborhoods and reporting suspicious persons.

 

Residents are encouraged to contact 911 should they become aware of a similar and/or suspicious situation involving the delivery of pizza or other food product. The Department’s Community Services Unit also has reached out to pizza delivery businesses within the city in order to warn them of these circumstances and to discuss additional safety practices for their delivery personnel.

Wyoming Police continue to investigate Fifth Third Bank robbery

The Wyoming Department of Public Safety continues its investigation into the robbery of the Fifth Third Bank at 62 54th St. SW that took place yesterday, July 11.

The Wyoming Department of Public Safety responded to the report of an armed robbery at the bank around 12:30 p.m. July 11. The suspect wore all dark clothing with a mask and green gloves and according to reports, had a handgun. Officers reported that no one was injured in the robbery.

 

After the robbery, the suspect was seen running west along 54th Street, jumping a fence and entering the Interurban Foot Trail.

 

The FBI also responded to the scene and is assisting in the investigation.
